Describe Humanity Planner in more depth

The Details

Image a world that benefits everyone, not just a few. Imagine that world was created via the internet. You have heard of mass collaborative efforts in creating an online encyclopedia – Wikipedia. You have heard of YouTube which allows millions of people to share videos online. Now imagine a million people collaborating online to create a world that works for all. There are very few times in recorded history where information became accessible to the masses. The era of the Guttenberg Press was one time and another time is now with the internet. It is the internet of today that is allowing for the Wikipedias and the YouTubes and people to mass collaborate online. Now, imagine using this enormous emerging power for the benefit of humanity.

Humanity Planner will provide a framework and web applications for online users who share a vision of creating a world that works for all. The users will be able to develop a plan to implement this vision, and track the progress towards this vision. Humanity Planner users will be able to provide feedback to one another on what is working and what needs adjusting while they are collaborating. Historically, individuals and organizations have worked separately in an uncoordinated effort towards their vision for their causes. Humanity Planner provides a systemized and coordinated process for solving world wide problems. For example, there could be thousands of problems or challenges that Humanity Planner users want to address and bring solutions to. All of Humanity Planner users will be able to collaborate simultaneously online in addressing their specific causes.

What problem or issue does Humanity Planner address?

The Problem

Humanity Planner addresses a world that is currently not benefiting many. Our world is currently not working for all. For example, in 2006, about 9.7 million children died before they reached their fifth birthday. Almost all of these deaths occurred in developing countries, 4/5 of them in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, the two regions that also suffer from the highest rates of hunger and malnutrition.

Most of these deaths are attributed, not to outright starvation, but to diseases that move in on vulnerable children whose bodies have been weakened by hunger.

Humanity Planner addresses gigantic global issues that affect everyone and everything.  It poses the questions like how do we provide clean drinking water for everyone?  How do we live more sustainably? How do we create societies and communities where everyone benefits, not just a few?

Who benefits the most from Humanity Planner?

The least fortunate people among us would benefit the most. The human beings of the world who are without clean water and air. Those with contaminated soil and without plentiful food would benefit.  Those without healthcare, education, shelter, families and opportunity would benefit. The more those human beings thrive and live in peace and abundance, the more the world will thrive. So ultimately everyone will benefit, including humans.

Those in need will be better served through a clearer shared vision, and better coordinated efforts to deal with multi-dimensional problems.

We realize that this answer is vague, however, the idea behind Humanity Planner is to let the people/users create a world that works for all by deciding on what issues they will focus on through their online collaborative efforts.

What are the initial steps required to get Humanity Planner off the ground?

Initially we need volunteer UX designers, programmers, graphic artists, marketers, administrative support and capital. Next, a web application will be built with the following capabilities:

  1. Online community
  2. A means for one million or more users to collaborate
  3. Allow for a series of questions to be developed, which will assist in answering the ultimate question of “how we create a world that works for all.”
  4. Allow for a series of proposed answers to be developed. We will use this inquiry process as the bases to create a shared vision of a world that works for all.
  5. Establish the planning module for creating the plan to implement.
  6. Establish a tracking module for tracking the progress of the plan. Users will give feedback on what is working and needs adjusting.
  7. A method for adapting and evolving the vision and plan over time as new conditions and results arise.
  8. A discovery/search module for finding existing plans and results

What is the ultimate outcome of Humanity Planner and how would you measure the success of it?

The optimal outcome is a world where everyone thrives! Imagine a world where everyone has clean water, land and air, enough healthy food, safe shelter, good education, healthcare, clean energy, freedom, peace, friends, family, love, art,  and the opportunity to contribute their gifts to the world. Ultimately, Humanity Planner is a vision for creating a world that has not yet been created.  It is a bold attempt to believe that we can live in world where everyone is benefiting, not just a few.  Humanity Planner users want to focus their efforts on creating a world that works for all versus saying, “It cannot be done.  It has never happened.  It will never work, the problems are too large….to idealistic.” In short, Humanity Planner will far outlive its founders.
